Your adventure begins with a drive down to Mhamid, following the ribbon of the Drâa palm grove. You'll be struck by the striking contrast between the green of the irrigated crops and the ochre tones of the desert. You'll have the chance to hike among the colour-changing dunes, with the silhouettes of camels and hikers projected in shifting shadows. You'll also discover the traces left by the desert's discreet inhabitants, such as lizards, insects and fennecs, who tell mysterious stories in the sand, like hieroglyphs to be deciphered.

Highlights of your experience include sunrise and sunset, which offer a breathtaking spectacle as the horizon changes from brilliant orange to dark purple. At night, you'll have the chance to admire a sparkling starry sky, brighter than ever.

This trip offers pre-planned or personalised itineraries to suit different traveller profiles, whether you're a family, a hiking enthusiast or an experienced walker. The ideal season for this experience is from October to May. You will be accompanied by a professional guide and provided with all the necessary logistics, including camels, a cook and tents. Here's an overview of the proposed itinerary:

Day 1: Welcome at Ouarzazate airport and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning departure by 4×4 to Foum Zguid. Cross Zaouïat de Sidi Abdenebi, meet the camel team in Zaouiat, then start the trek to Erg El Ghoul. Dinner and overnight in a bivouac at Erg el Ghoul.

Day 3: Crossing the sea of dunes of Erg El Ghoul. Dinner and overnight in a bivouac in Mhazil.

Day 4: Arrival in the pastures of Daïet Chegaga at the foot of the red dunes. Dinner and overnight in a bivouac towards Ebbidlya Lakbira, at the foot of the great Erg dune.

Day 5: Head east, crossing Dayat Chegaga and the Fibule dunes, then the Njakht reg to reach the outlet of the Oum Lalag wadi. Dinner and overnight in a bivouac.

Day 6: Walk along the dunes of Erg Smar jusqu’à l’oued El Attach (rivière de la soif). Ensuite, continuation vers les dunes de Bouguerne. Dîner et nuit en bivouac.

Day 7: Meet the all-terrain vehicles in Bouguerne. Return to Zagora via M'hamid. Lunch. Then, in the afternoon, return to Ouarzazate via the Drâa Valley. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Transfer to airportt.

Itinerary of the tour:
Day 1: Arrival at Ouarzazate airport, welcome and transfer to hotel.

Day 2: Ouarzazate | Tinghir | Arfoud| 340 km.
Transfer by road (approximately 340 km) via the route des Mille Casbahs and the Dades Valley, to reach Tineghir for lunch.In the afternoon, we continue the drive to the starting point of our expedition, 20km after the town of Erfoud. We meet the team of camel drivers, load our luggage and then walk to the small dunes of Ikarian. A short hour's walk. Night in a bivouac.

Jour 3 : Dunes d’lkarian | Dunes Moulay Amer| 5h de marche
Nous débutons la marche vers un vaste plateau avec quelques palmiers, pour atteindre le petit village de Tisserdmen, situé près d’un petit oasis. Déjeuner. L’après-midi, nous effectuons l’ascension d’une petite colline qui offre une superbe vue sur l’oasis et les dunes de Merzouga. Nous continuons notre progression sur une terre qui a gardé le souvenir des âges présahariens. Bivouac au début des dunes.

Day 4: Moulay Amer dunes | Bouieghd |5h walk
We walk through a landscape of gold, ochre, red and white dunes. Seasonal lake (depending on rainfall), located at the foot of a large dune that we will have to climb. Bivouac in the Bouieghd basin, in the middle of the dunes. We set up camp and have lunch there. At the end of the afternoon, we climb to the top of a large dune to admire the spectacular sunset.

Day 5: Bouieghd | Tamrdanite | 6h walk
We walk along the sand blades and admire the superb views over the whole region. We reach the small oasis of Boughanim for a picnic. In the afternoon, we continue our journey between increasingly impressive dunes, before reaching the top of the highest one. Our gaze wanders over the natural barrier separating Morocco and Algeria. Bivouac at Tamrdanite.

Day 6: Tamrdanite | Znigui | 5h walk
We leave the Merzouga dunes behind to cross a stony black plateau mixed with grains of golden sand. The landscape is austere, with black, white and gold colours. After passing the small M'ifisse mountain, we arrive back on the Znigui dunes, where the sunshine at the end of the day revives the environment magnificently. Night in a bivouac.

Day 7: Znigui | Agdez | Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we leave our last bivouac to walk for a short hour before returning to the vehicle. Luggage is loaded and we return to Ouarzazate via the very varied Tazzarine road (approx. 360 km). We stop in Tazzarine for lunch. We continue on to the Draa Valley, reaching the village of Tansikht. Beautiful views of the Agdez palm groves, before crossing the Tinififft pass (altitude 1660m.) to reach Ouarzazate. Overnight at the hotel, Riad Essalam 4****.
